Holmes not to act in 'Sex and the City'

Rumors that Katie Holmes has been offered a role in the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel has been shot down.

Holmes was alleged to be the favorite to land a part as a feisty businesswoman rivalling Kim Cattrall's character Samantha Jones in a follow-up to the 2008 box office smash.

According to insider, "The character they want Holmes to play is a really ballsy, high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha."

But her representatives are baffled by the reports, insisting there is "no truth" to the claims, according to GossipCop.com.

The sequel to Sex and the City movie is expected to begin shooting in late August or early September and is scheduled to be released in theaters sometime in 2010.

Who u guys expect or hope Holmes will join sex and the city and why? just hit your comments here.

Kristin Davis Has a New Man

Kristin Davis and her Sex and the City character, Charlotte, may have both been unlucky in love at one time or another, but it seems Davis has now found a match in celebrity photographer Russell James.

"It's been going on for a bit now," says a source close to the actress. "She's very supportive of him – she seems very happy."

On July 20, the pair joined another pal at Katsuya Brentwood for dinner in Los Angeles. James and Davis, 44, sat in an intimate booth, sharing one very small side of a bench, and were affectionate throughout dinner, says a witness. Davis rested her head against his shoulder.

"She was all smiles," says the onlooker. "A little giddy." The duo walked out quietly, trying to keep a low profile, with Davis grabbing James's hand for a second as they headed up the steps.

In June, Davis joined James at a party to celebrate his new photography book at the grand reopening of Santa Monica's Shangri-La hotel. "They hung out at the party and were definitely a little flirty even in public. They seemed like an item," said an observer at the time.

Katie Price auditions for new Sex and the City movie

Katie Price is hoping to land a role in the new Sex and the City movie.

The glamour queen, 31 – who has spent thousands of pounds on acting classes in the US – has even been tested for the part.

She said: “I recently went to LA where I was doing my acting lessons for Sex and the City Part 2. They want a big-breasted English glamour girl and I have had the audition.”

Katie, better known as Jordan, also accused husband Peter Andre of using their split to plug his album, on which he sings of his break-up torment.

She told Galaxy FM radio station: “It doesn’t make sense that while he was with me he recorded horrible songs like that.”

The Ugly Truth -- Film Review

Bottom Line: Hit-and-miss comedy delivers the unsurprising news that opposites attract. In the past year, movies aimed primarily at women -- including "Sex and the City," "He's Just Not That Into You" and "The Proposal" -- have scored at the boxoffice, demonstrating the potency of an underserved audience as well as the value of counterprogramming.

The latest chick flick, "The Ugly Truth," may not scale the boxoffice heights achieved by some of these films. But with clever appeal to the guys as well as the girls, it seems likely to become a medium-size hit for Columbia. Robert Luketic directed two other successful female-oriented comedies, "Legally Blonde" and "Monster-in-Law," and while this film is unfortunately closer in
quality to the latter than the former, it has just enough laughs to squeak by.

"Truth" hopes to add a raunchier spin to the Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies, such as "Pillow Talk" and "Lover Come Back," which focused on two professional rivals who hate each other at first sight and only gradually recognize the attraction simmering beneath their hostility. Katherine Heigl plays Abby, the producer of a morning TV show in Sacramento that is struggling in the ratings. The station manager decides to add a new face to the mix -- Mike (Gerard Butler), a late-night cable TV personality who has won notoriety for his blunt commentaries on why lovesick women don't understand men's animal needs. Abby detests everything that the
macho Mike represents, but she is forced to work with him when his segment called "The Ugly Truth" becomes a hit with viewers.

Along the way, she realizes that her own love life could use some improvement, and maybe Mike's insights into the male psyche can help her to land the handsome doctor (Eric Winter) who lives next door. It takes a while for her to perceive that her true soulmate is sitting right across the TV console.
The script by Nicole Eastman, Karen McCullah Lutz, and Kirsten Smith (the latter two also wrote "Legally Blonde") is wildly uneven.

The best scenes are those in which Mike coaches Abby on how to inflame the doctor's interest, and she grudgingly comes to appreciate his savvy intuitions. On the other hand, the TV broadcasts are way too crude; even in a time of relaxed standards, it's hard to believe that Mike's sexually explicit rants would ever make it onto a network newscast. The big gross-out scene, in which Abby wrestles with a vibrator, also reeks of desperation.

The movie wastes an excellent supporting cast. John Michael Higgins and Cheryl Hines have promising roles as the married, perpetually squabbling anchors, but they don't get enough opportunity to demonstrate their comic chops. Kevin Connolly ("Entourage") has a too-brief scene as one of Abby's hapless blind dates. Only Bree Turner as Abby's ever-patient assistant gets a chance to shine.

A romantic comedy depends, of course, on the chemistry between the leads, and here the film is more successful. Both Heigl and Butler find the appeal in very flawed characters. It has been said that every memorable romantic movie requires a scene where the lovers dance together, and Luketic has staged an effervescent dance for the stars. Unfortunately, the director fails to do much with the setting. Sacramento is a pallid presence, indistinguishable from Peoria or Toledo. Even though the picture sputters and stumbles, it arrives at the ending that audiences crave.

Tossed-Kim Cattrall Splits With Chef Beau

Kim Cattrall has reportedly split from her long-term partner.
The 52-year-old actress' relationship with chef Alan Wyse – who is 20 years her junior - is said to have run its course after nearly five years together.

A source close to the couple told America’s OK! magazine: “It was a long time coming, they had some trouble in April and since then things have fizzled out.

“They realised they were at different points in their lives. They still care about each other and will remain friends.”

Meanwhile, Cattrall has been rocked by the news her maternal grandfather was a bigamist.
The ‘Sex and the City’ actress – who was born in England but moved to Canada when she was just three months old – discovered her grandfather George Baugh walked out on his family, leaving his wife and three daughters living in poverty in Liverpool, England.

Kim – who found out about his actions while taking part in British TV show ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, which follows stars as they trace their family history - said: “My mother and aunties were never able to grieve the loss of their father and what they missed growing up. It's an event that defined my mother.
“But I was taken aback by how brazen my grandfather was in his bigamy. He started a second family just north of Liverpool, where my grandmother and his three small daughters were starving.

“I am still processing how I feel about my grandfather. I am terribly sad and I can't forgive him for what he did.”

If Beckham secures the role it will become her third movie experience. Previously she starred as herself in 1997’s Spice World and had a guest appearance on an episode of Ugly Betty.

'The Best And The Brightest' Films In 'Sex And The City'

Neil Patrick Harris alert! The Best and The Brightest starring NPH is filming on the Upper East Side of Manhattan today. The movie will be shooting a scene near E. 71 St and Madison Ave, about a block east of Central Park. The comedy, which has actually been filming in Philadelphia for the past few weeks, is about a young couple who have recently moved to Manhattan and suddenly realize the lengths they must go to in order to get their young daughter into a private kindergarten.

Today's filming location is also just around the corner from Lumi, 963 Lexington Ave, a small Italian restaurant that will seem familiar to Sex and the City fans. The scene in the movie where Charlotte runs into Big at a restaurant—that was at Lumi. And when she went into labor while arguing with Big, that was filmed on the street in front of Lumi.

Besides its big-screen notoriety, Lumi also offers classic Italian dishes at a reasonable price, well, reasonable for the UES anyway. Their dinner menu includes spaghetti with garlic, olive oil, tomato and red pepper for $19 and hand-made ravioli filled with veal in a wild mushroom sauce for $21.50.

'Bruno' a hit Down Under

"Bruno" has bowed in high style Down Under.

Sacha Baron Cohen's R-rated comedy about a fictional gay fashionista from Austria already has Australia in a tizzy. Universal opened "Bruno" in 213 theaters in Australia on Wednesday to take advantage of limited school holidays there and rang up AUS$1.7 million ($1.4 million).

That's the third-highest tally ever for a comedy release in the market, after 2004's "Meet the Fockers" and last year's "Sex and the City." "Bruno"carries a less-restrictive MA rating in Australia, meaning teens 15 and older can see the pic without an adult in tow.

Back in November 2006, Uni paid pic producer Media Rights Capital $42.5 million and also agreed to some backend commitments to acquire domestic rights to "Bruno," along with international distribution in eight territories. Fox -- which had just opened Baron Cohen's "Borat" successfully and went on to register $262 million in worldwide boxoffice on that film -- passed on the "Bruno" rights, saying the asking price was too rich.

Like the faux Kazakhstan journo in "Borat," the Bruno character is based on a sketch-comedy persona that Baron Cohen developed for television. His successful pitch to Uni was based on a story treatment developed around the Bruno character.

Uni execs figure a domestic bow of even $20 million or more will guarantee "Bruno" a profitable theatrical run. But prerelease tracking is solid, and the pic should open significantly higher than that.

Baron Cohen's first film -- 2002's "Ali G Indahouse" -- was also based on a sketch character, a white rapper from suburban London he called Ali G.

Prospect Park West: A New Sex And The City?

A possible new T.V. show, Prospect Park West, is being touted as baby-happy Sex and the City.
Listen up Brooklynites—your borough is one step closer to becoming another Sarah Jessica Parker-approved pop cultural cliche. I know you're thrilled! Pleased as punch. (Try to contain your excitement.) Sex And The City Creators At Odds Over New, Similar Follow-Up Shows

Amy Sohn—dating columnist for New York magazine—has penned a book, Prospect Park West, that follows the lives of (are you sitting down?) four women living in Brooklyn's Prospect Park brownstone area. Except instead of being gay men in fancy heels, these ladies are all married with babies—doing the whole housewife thing. We know, it just gets better and better. Married People Have Greener Grass

Sarah Jessica Parker has reportedly optioned this book and hopes to turn it into a television show. The four women are predictably complicated in an urban, hackneyed way.

There's "Lizzie" the sometime lesbian mommy (eye roll). "Rebecca," with the philandering husband (yawn), "Karen" is some sort of social ladder climber (snooze-button), and saving the best for last, is "Melora" who's neurotic with "psychiatric maladies" (could be interesting....).

Numerous reports have claimed it's "a mix of sex, parenthood and celebrity."

Translation: designer baby carriages, impossibly toned post-baby bodies and cameos by thirty-something C-listers who need the work. Sounds riveting.

Sex and City star Kristin Davis in hot water

IT WASN'T surprising to see Kristin Davis, the teetotaller of the Sex and the City clan, enjoying a glass of mineral water as she took in the winter sunshine at Catalina Restaurant, in Rose Bay, yesterday.

What was surprising is that Davis, best known for her role as Charlotte in the TV series, was sipping a well-known Italian brand of H20 rather than flavoured Glaceau Vitamin Water, which is sponsoring the mega party for which she was brought to Australia.

Looking chic in a classic cream trench, the dark-haired beauty enjoyed her harbourside lunch.

She will be the star guest at an exhibition of celebrity snapper Russell James's work at the Customs House, at Circular Quay, tonight.
